Critical Manufacturing Recognized By Gartner

News

Critical Manufacturing has been recognized as a Notable Vendor in Gartner's 2019 Electronics/Semiconductor Context: ‘Magic Quadrant for Manufacturing Execution Systems', which recognizes 10 MES vendors. According to the report, “there are software vendors that offer specialized high-tech/electronics and semiconductor MES solutions. Some of these were not included in the MES Magic Quadrant. Supply chain technology leaders responsible for manufacturing systems in electronics should evaluate these vendors and their solutions.”

The industry-specific report details market differentiators and recommended assessment criteria for an MES. The recommended assessment criteria include relevant industry experience, industry-specific functionality, cross-functional supply chain integrations, financial viability, and evidence of innovation.

Chris Parsons, Vice President for Global Marketing at Critical Manufacturing, said, “We are delighted to be included in this industry specific research note. The high-tech electronics assembly and semiconductor industries are strategic segments where we have a great deal of experience and growth, including in the award-winning ASM smart factory in Germany.”

Critical Manufacturing is a subsidiary of ASM Pacific Technology, a leading manufacturer of SMT and Semiconductor Backend equipment. The installation of its Industry 4.0-ready MES at the ASM factory in Munich has been a critical part in creating superb levels of efficiency, flexibility and visibility in the facility, which has high levels of digitalization and automation, and is considered a prime model of the smart factory of the future. The solution is deployed in both the equipment assembly areas and on the SMT lines used to assemble their own printed circuit boards, providing one single MES across all operations.

The Critical Manufacturing MES is designed to create a pathway to future-ready smart factory. It embraces the latest technologies as well as incorporating easy integration of legacy systems to ensure customers can grow at a pace that suits their business needs. Built from the ground up to accommodate smart manufacturing technology, the MES is scalable, flexible and modular and can respond to the rapid pace of change being experienced by manufacturers of complex high-tech discrete devices.

“The research note touches on areas that are core to our business, including levels of innovation,” continued Parsons. “The Critical Manufacturing Augmented MES incorporates latest advances in innovation and embraces technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile computing, cloud, advanced analytics, native equipment integration and automation, scheduling and augmented reality. It combines real and virtual worlds to drive levels of operational efficiency and agility, while it's modern technology provides customers with a way of future-proofing their business against constant change. Indeed, the MES' advanced functionality and ease of deployment mean it is revolutionizing customers' expectations of an MES.”

Designed specifically for smart manufacturing, the Critical Manufacturing MES offers ways for semiconductor and electronics manufacturers to reduce production costs, enhance quality and increase responsiveness to changing customer demands. The levels of automation it provides and its ability to handle distributed intelligence and vast quantities of data, not only forge a pathway to smart production systems with unprecedented levels of efficiency, but also free company resources to innovate and create market-leading products for the future.
