Media processing chip supplier to provide security platform for content protection

Vivace Semiconductor and Discretix have announced that Vivace has licensed Discretix CryptoCell security platform for Vivace's VSP family of processors.

Vivace Semiconductor and Discretix have announced that Vivace has licensed Discretix CryptoCell security platform for Vivace's VSP family of processors, providing a security solution to Vivace's portable media player, smart phones and mobile handset customers.

The Discretix CryptoCell platform combined with Vivace's ViViD media processing core provides multimedia devices with a high level of content protection, enabling a broad range of premium content services.The CryptoCell security platform will be adopted across Vivace's VSP family of next generation media processors and will be fully integrated with its existing OMA and WM-DRM 10 to provide a high performance, tamperproof DRM solution. Additionally through licensing the CryptoCell, Vivace will be eligible to gain full FIPS 140-2 certification.

Mark Indovina, CTO of Vivace said, "Discretix is providing an integrated security platform optimised for mobile environment that enhances the Vivace product roadmap and strategy for content protection. The CryptoCell security platform will be incorporated initially into the Vivace VSP-200. Through integration of the Discretix' CryptoCell solution, Vivace will accelerate the time-to-market of equipment manufacturers in various markets by releasing one of the first fully integrated multimedia SoC solutions that supports both OMA and Microsoft DRM."
