Solar cell production tool order in Taiwan shows uptake of “greener’ manufacturing
AIXTRON has announced the receipt of an order from WIN Semiconductors Corporation, Taiwan.
AIXTRON has announced the receipt of an order from WIN Semiconductors Corporation, Taiwan. The company is diversifying into solar cell manufacturing. Providing the foundation for this new business venture will be an AIXTRON AIX 2600G3 IC epitaxy reactor. The new MOCVD tool will be used for the development and manufacture of triple junction solar cells on germanium wafers for terrestrial Solar Cell applications. It will be installed in Win Semiconductors' cleanroom in Kuei Shan Hsiang, Taiwan. Win Semiconductors is based in Taiwan and recognises opportunities in the market for terrestrial compound semiconductor solar cells. A spokesperson of Win Semiconductors, comments: "We are convinced by the track record of AIXTRON tools in solar cell manufacturing in Europe and are confident that the new system will clear the way for our success in the solar cell market."
