M+W Zander to build new semiconductor factory in China for more than US$400 million
M+W Zander (Shanghai) Company Limited, China, has been awarded a new major contract for design and construction of the most advanced semiconductor factory in China. The company of the M+W Zander Group was appointed as general contractor for engineering, procurement and construction.
This includes technical setup of the factory and of around 20.000 square metres of cleanroom area. The name of the customer is not being disclosed. The order volume amounts to around more than US$400 million.
The construction project in Dalian, China, is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2009.
M+W Zander has been active in China since the early 1990s. It is well positioned in the country with its rapidly developing electronics market (e.g. semiconductor and flat-screen) as well as in other segments such as pharmaceutical and automotive industry.
