AMD achieves AWS High Performance Computing Competency status

News

AMD technology helps AWS customers optimise their HPC workloads for performance and efficiency using scalable cloud infrastructure.

AMD has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) High Performance Computing Competency status. This designation recognizes that AMD has demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in high-performance computing (HPC) solution areas that helps customers achieve their cloud HPC goals.

Achieving the AWS High Performance Computing Competency differentiates AMD as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that provides specialized services designed to help enterprises adopt, develop, and deploy complex projects on AWS. To receive the designation, APN members must possess deep AWS expertise and deliver solutions seamlessly on AWS.

“AMD is proud to achieve AWS High Performance Computing Competency status and support end-customers through our exceptional technology powering AWS infrastructure,” said Lynn Comp, corporate vice president, Cloud Business, AMD. “Customers running intensive HPC workloads increasingly turn to the cloud to run more simultaneous jobs while eliminating lengthy job queues. This achievement showcases the commitment AMD has to premium performance and cost efficiency within HPC.”

This competency comes after some extensive cloud and HPC virtual machines (VMs) work between AMD and AWS, including an announcement earlier this year that Amazon EC2 Hpc6a instances are powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors and deliver up to 65 percent better price-performance over comparable compute-optimized x86 based instances. Amazon EC2 Hpc6a instances help customers run their most compute-intensive HPC workloads like, computational fluid dynamics, weather forecasting, and molecular dynamics.
