Photon Design to exhibit at ECIO and demonstrate MT-FIMMPROP

Photon Design Ltd is exhibiting at the European Conference on Integrated Optics (ECIO), 10 – 12 June 2025. The company will also be highlighting the new functionality of MT-FIMMPROP in an immersive demonstration of its integrated PIC component simulator and layout tool. ECIO brings together industry and academia to review the latest developments and innovations in integrated photonics and nanophotonics. These are critical to enabling new and emerging applications in telecoms, datacoms, imaging, sensing, metrology, quantum, and computing.
Dr. Dominic Gallagher, CEO of Photon Design, who will be demonstrating MT-FIMMPROP at the conference, said, “MT-FIMMPROP enables designers to stay within a single, layout tool environment whilst designing and accurately simulating multiple, photonic components and entire, photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Photon Design uses EigenMode Expansion (EME) optical propagation in MT-FIMMPROP; a thorough method of solving Maxwell’s equations which gives precise, simulation results. Passive waveguides can also be simulated on a scale unmatched elsewhere in the industry, by natively combining component scale simulations to build full devices and circuits. Process duplication is avoided, computational speed is boosted, and one-click, GDS-II export has been added for expedience.”
Dr. Dominic Gallagher joins other industry experts on the steering board of ECIO, which is organised by the European Optical Society. The board is chaired by Professor Peter Smowton
of the Institute for Compound Semiconductors, at Cardiff University and Professor Thomas Krauss, of the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology at the University of York.
