The NanoKTN And JEMI UK announce strategic partnership

News
Alliance to facilitate and drive a complete end to end supply chain for UK technology innovation.
The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (NanoKTN), the UK’s primary knowledge based network for Micro and Nanotechnologies, has announced a strategic partnership with the Joint Equipment and Materials Initiative (JEMI UK). The NanoKTN and JEMI UK will work together to promote the commercial benefits of establishing an end to end supply chain, to enable UK technology innovators to get products to market faster.

A major objective of the NanoKTN is to evaluate, assess and improve the entire supply chain, in order to develop the commercialisation of UK nanotechnology applications. JEMI UK promote the development of a strong UK infrastructure to support the growth of companies designing, developing and manufacturing semiconductor devices within the UK. They will work together to promote nanotechnology and nano-electronics innovation.

“The nanotechnology industry is relatively new and there are a number of gaps in the supply chain that prohibit products getting to market. One of the NanoKTN’s main remits is to analyse this supply chain, determine where these gaps are and encourage companies to recognise the commercial gains to be reaped in bridging them,” explains Director of the NanoKTN, Alec Reader. “The NanoKTN’s partnership with JEMI UK will enable us to communicate with a wider base of contacts and help to develop and promote initiatives in this area.”

JEMI UK will deliver three focus group meetings over an eighteen month period looking at the issues of the supply chain for nano industries, MNT, MEMS and for other emerging hi-tech sectors in micro/nanotechnology. These meeting will be open to all NanoKTN and JEMI UK members, as well as other interested parties.

“The emergence of the NanoKTN creates a fantastic opportunity for us to work together and enhance the quality and scope of messages we deliver to both our membership bases,” says Director of JEMI UK, William Revolta.

Established by the Technology Strategy Board, the NanoKTN is managed by Centre for Process Innovation Ltd, a leading technology development and consulting company.
