Freescale buys Intoto
The company signs definitive agreement to purchase Intoto. Transaction advances embedded multicore software development.
Freescale Semiconductor has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Intoto, a provider of software platform products for networking and communications equipment manufacturers.
Freescale intends to apply Intoto's technology and talent to create high performance applications and software components optimised to improve system performance, streamline development and enhance software support for its QorIQ(TM) multicore communications platforms. QorIQ platforms are Freescale's new brand of communications processors designed to take embedded multicore to new levels of adoption.
"Successful multicore development requires a deep understanding of how the architecture, applications and operating systems integrate to achieve system solution and performance goals," said Lynelle McKay, senior vice president and general manager for Freescale's Networking & Multimedia Group. "Intoto's leading edge development team strengthens our QorIQ solution and helps us offer our customers software applications expertise that assists their migration to embedded multicore."
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close within the next 30 days. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.
