CMP growth in Japan

News
Entrepix expands CMP in Japanese market

Entrepix have announced that it will use D-process as its exclusive local representative offering sales and service for its CMP FastForward portfolio in Japan.  Entrepix offers a full portfolio of refurbished CMP and metrology equipment combined with CMP and SEZ foundry processing services. This covers a broad range of markets including semiconductor, MEMS, materials development, nanotechnology, research and development, as well as advanced packaging, specifically including advancements in through silicon vias (TSV).

“CMP FastForward is ideally suited for customers in Japan since so many are making advanced novel device structures or producing ‘More than Moore’ type devices and looking to extend the lives of their fabs,” said Tim Tobin, CEO of Entrepix.  “CMP FastForward is designed to assist manufacturers with any level of CMP experience by addressing all equipment, process, personnel and production requirements.”

Similarly, D-process currently provides its Japanese customer base a total solution including a CMP foundry for process optimization, as well as the development and distribution of custom CMP slurries and the sale of CMP equipment, with a strong emphasis on applications that are necessary for the testing and commercial production of MEMS devices.  As a strategic component of the partnership, Entrepix has recently delivered and installed a fully refurbished IPEC 472 to D-process’ CMP foundry.

“D-process’ highly skilled engineering team will use this tool to demonstrate the core competencies of both companies in CMP processing for the Japanese market,” stated Hideyuki Doy, President of D-process.  “Entrepix’ products and services are a perfect complement to those that D-process already delivers to the Japanese market, as well as enabling expansion of our products to leading edge 300mm applications at Entrepix’ CMP foundry,“ Doy added.

“Partnering with a proven technology expert such as D-process allows us to bring a highly competitive offering to the Japanese market.  In fact, we have begun utilizing some of D-process’ high performance slurries for applications being run at Entrepix foundry.  The synergies of the offerings and business models between the two companies form a tremendous foundation for a very long standing and multifaceted relationship,” added Tobin.  “This is yet another step in expanding our commitment to reducing cost and risk while accelerating time to revenue for semiconductor device and materials manufacturers around the world.”
