SEMI and SEIA partner to boost solar markets
US industry associations, SEMI and Solar Energy Industries Association, join forces to grow solar energy markets.
US semiconductor industry association, SEMI, had teamed up with the Solar Energy Industries Association, SEIA, to promote the solar industry across the US.
Under the new partnership, both organisations will collaborate on policy, market research and events that promote solar energy.
According to SEMI, solar energy is one of the fastest growing energy industries across the US, with more than 5600 businesses located across America.
"I
believe we will now be in a better position to serve our respective
member communities," said Bettina Weiss, vice president,
photovoltaic business unit, at SEMI. "[This move will] strengthen
our collective voice and jointly drive efforts necessary to develop
US economic programs designed to retain and support manufacturing and
employment."
"By
sharing key resources, SEIA and SEMI will be able to better address
some of the complex issues facing the solar industry as well as
promote new opportunities for solar manufacturing across America,"
added Tom Kimbis, vice president of strategy and external affairs for
SEIA.
- In a separate announcement, SEMI projects semiconductor sales will top $42.4 billion in 2012; consumer demand for tablet, smartphone and mobile devices continues to drive manufacturing equipment sales.
