Epson Supplies Silvaco's PDK For 8-Inch CMOS

Seiko Epson Corporation has started to provide Silvaco Japan Co., Ltd's Process Design Kit (PDK) for high-voltage CMOS process for 8-inch wafers.
Epson had previously been using the high-voltage CMOS process 0.35µm WRJ for 6-inch wafers. In the new adoption of 8-inch wafers, Epson has decided to continue to use the Silvaco PDK and has begun to provide it to customers.
The Silvaco PDK was developed in collaboration with Epson. Five business locations were involved in this project, and the development has progressed smoothly under good partnership since 2007. The provision of the Silvaco PDK allows customers to utilise Epson's competitive 8-inch wafer process and Silvaco's sophisticated mixed-signal design flow.
"We are pleased with the continued adoption of Silvaco's PDK for the newly released 8-inch wafers, based on the long-time partnership with Epson in the high-voltage CMOS process," said Yoshiharu Furui, General Manager of Silvaco Japan. "We believe this 8-inch wafer process and Silvaco's unique token license will greatly improve the ROI for customers."
Epson's product lineup ranges from inkjet printers and 3LCD projectors to sensors and other microdevices. Silvaco, Inc. is a provider of TCAD, circuit simulation, and IC CAD software tools.
Silvaco's tools are used by fabs for developing semiconductor processes, and design houses for developing analogue, mixed-signal, and RF integrated circuits. The company provides a complete PDK-based design flow with interfaces to third-party design platforms.
