Wireless LAN market on the up
The largest enterprise share gainers are Ruckus Wireless, Aruba, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola Solutions
A recently published report by Dell'Oro Group, revealed the Wireless LAN (WLAN) market posted record revenues in the third quarter, and a 19 percent revenue growth over the same period last year.
This strong industry performance was further underlined by eight WLAN vendors who achieved their highest ever quarterly results.
"Three trends are now driving faster-than-industry growth in the enterprise WLAN segment - devices that are cloud-managed, those optimised for use by Service Providers, and systems that leverage software to integrate wireless and wired infrastructures," explains Chris DePuy, Analyst of Wireless LAN research at Dell'Oro Group. "We see vendors focusing innovation dollars and marketing efforts to aggressively pursue these three areas," DePuy adds.
In the third quarter, Cisco Systems maintained the majority revenue market share in the Enterprise WLAN market, followed by Aruba Networks and Hewlett-Packard. In the SOHO market, NETGEAR retained the number one revenue rank, followed by Technicolor.
In the Service Provider WiFi market, Cisco Systems, Ruckus Wireless and Hewlett-Packard were the top three vendors in terms of revenue.
