Pasquale Pistorio will step down as president and CEO of STMicroelectronics at the annual general shareholders' meeting of 2005. Pistorio will be 69 years old at that time and will formally retire from the positions that he has held since the formation of ST in 1987.
The company’s supervisory board has approved Pistorio's recommendation for his successor - Carlo Bozotti (age 52), who will be appointed as sole member of the management board and president and CEO. The move is subject to approval by company shareholders at the 2005 meeting.
Bozotti is a graduate in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pavia and joined the Italian manufacturer SGS-ATES, an ST predecessor company, in 1977. He is currently corporate vice-president and general manager of ST’s Memory Products group, a position assumed in 1998.
Further, Bozotti has proposed the appointment of Alain Dutheil (age 59) as chief operating officer, a move approved by the supervisory board.
