SEMICON Europa 2004

SEMICON Europa is recognised as the premier event in Europe for semiconductor equipment, materials and services providing a full range of technical and management conferences that address the needs of the industry.
SEMICON Europa 2004 has become the communication platform for the semiconductor suppliers and their customers: new business programs and new platforms are being launched this year.

In this issue: highlights on the new Platforms and the new Programs.

MEMS Manufacturing and Packaging Platform. – Hall B3. 650 – Exhibition opening hours (Tue – Wed 9.00 am – 5.00 pm, Thu 9.00 am – 4.00 pm).

Sensors, RF MEMS, digital mirror devices, biochips will be highlighted on the MEMS Manufacturing and Packaging Platform.

Exhibitors on the MEMS Manufacturing and Packaging Platform will display their devices and show their competencies in the area of MEMS manufacturing and packaging development. Opportunities and challenges in the production and commercialization of MEMS products will also be developed during the MEMS/MST Forum on 19 April.

Factory Automation Pavilion. Hall B3. 638 – Exhibition opening hours

Exhibitors on the Factory Automation Pavilion will display automated handling systems, advanced tool or process control techniques, which are used to enable a total factory management scheme control. The Pavilion will gather technology experts and executives both as suppliers, manufacturers or researchers.

Global R & D Clusters Driving Innovation. Hall B3 – Exhibition opening hours

The “Global R&D Clusters Driving Innovation” concept aims at gathering R&D Institutions, Industry Associations, Technology Clusters on one single area in order to strengthen networking activities and give access to the best resources in R&D.

SEMI Technology Arena – European Forum for information exchange Hall B3. 558 – Exhibition opening hours

At the heart of these three platforms, the SEMI Technology Arena will be the information exchange area where companies will make specific presentations to the public on MEMS, Automation and Innovation.

Intellectual Property Seminar (IP Seminar) 22 April, 9.00 am – 1.00 pm International Congress Center (ICM)

Within the framework of SEMICON Europa 2004 technical programs, this half-a-day Seminar will give an overview of intellectual property issues with a special focus on patents, in relation with the semiconductor / semiconductor equipment industry. Business, legal as well as technical aspects will be highlighted, including the business models launched by research centres and the specificities of China. Patent attorneys, researchers and executives will present these aspects.

How to do business in China: 21 April, 9.00 am – 12.00 pm International Congress Center (ICM)

The China market offers numerous opportunities and presents singular challenges for semiconductor equipment and materials suppliers. Industry executives who are pioneers in the China semiconductor market will outline from business and marketing perspectives, what are their keys to success; Governments authorities will give an overview op public programs available to support European SME’s to establish themselves on the Chinese market.
