Intense Photonics has gained additional funds to expand its design and volume fabrication of optoelectronic components and modules. A GBP5mn ($9.2mn) funding round was supported by all the company's financial investors - 3i, ACT Venture Capital, Alice Ventures, Cazenove Private Equity, FNI Venture Capital and TTP Ventures.
Intense Photonics has gained additional funds to expand its design and volume fabrication of optoelectronic components and modules. A GBP5mn ($9.2mn) funding round was supported by all the company's financial investors - 3i, ACT Venture Capital, Alice Ventures, Cazenove Private Equity, FNI Venture Capital and TTP Ventures.
Intense will also be adding more optical semiconductor fabrication capital equipment, particularly in the area of module packaging. Intense is currently generating revenues in defence, printing and telecoms with products designed and manufactured in volume at its facility in High Blantyre, Scotland.
The company has a unique quantum well intermixing (QWI) process for fabricating optical devices such as single mode laser arrays packaged into modules and sub-systems. Two previous funding rounds raised more than GBP21mn. The company now employs 70 people.
