The future is bright for IC industry claims analyst
UK-based market analyst Future Horizons has poured scorn on gloomy predictions of a short-lived semiconductor recovery in 2005 followed quickly by a market collapse.
UK-based market analyst Future Horizons has poured scorn on gloomy predictions of a short-lived semiconductor recovery in 2005 followed quickly by a market collapse.
Instead, the company is forecasting a sustained upturn. "We strongly disagree with favoured opinion, and believe 2005 will see continued growth through into 2006," said Future Horizons CEO Malcolm Penn.
He said that many analysts and companies were being too pessimistic because of their experiences during past market slowdowns. "The current uncertainty is partially a backlash from the severity of the past recession, coupled with underlying economic concerns.
"The good times are clearly now back on the agenda. Yet, even before the recovery has slowed, all eyes are focused on just how long it will last, whether there is enough investment, and whether the current market drivers are broad and strong enough to maintain the growth momentum through 2005 and beyond," said Penn.
Future Horizons will be outlining its market predictions for the European and global semiconductor industry on January 25 at the Kensington Close Hotel, London.
