UK-based wireless systems company CSR has set up a new company – called CSR Sweden AB – in Lund, Sweden to undertake design of wireless chips.
Headed up by Henrik Hedlund, the new company will employ a "substantial" team of chip designers. It is based in a new design centre close to the university in Lund.
CSR chief technology officer and cofounder James Collier said: "We expect CSR Sweden to play a key role in CSR's next generation of designs as we build on our market lead in Bluetooth and roll out our UniFi Wi-Fi products."
He went on to say that the company chose to set up a base in Sweden because of the large pool of design talent available in the country.
"With developments in Bluetooth, and now Wi-Fi, it is important that we continue to recruit the best designers. By choosing to locate CSR Sweden in Lund we believe this will give us access to a lot of the design talent in that country."
