French silicon substrate manufacturer Soitec has reported sales of euro 31.9 million for the third quarter of its 2004-2005 financial year. This is a 63.8% increase on the same period last year.
The growth would have been even stronger had it not been for the weakness of the US dollar, which fell 7.7% against the euro over the period of the third quarter.
Total group sales for the first three quarters of the companys financial year were euro 98.3 million, up 58.2% year-on-year. The company said that "sustained" demand for 300mm wafers had contributed to the positive results.
