The Taiwan foundries report September 2004 sales - TWD23.174tr for TSMC and TWD11.864tr for UMC. These represent year-on-year increases of 22.5% and 57.7%, respectively.

Lora Ho, TSMC vice-president and chief financial officer, reports some softening of consumer demand in the past two months threatening a slight decline between Q3 and Q4.
