The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation puts IC sales for August 2004 at $18.205bn (three-month average), representing 34.2% year-on-year growth. Sales into Europe were $3.215bn (+26.4%) or EUR2.638bn (+18.3%). Other regions: Americas $3.367bn (+29.0%), Japan $3.972bn (+23.7%), Asia Pacific $7.651bn (+47.2%).
VLSI Research estimates a compound annual growth rate of 25% for copper wafer starts per week (wspw) in the period to 2009. Last year, some 234.8kwspw were made. In 2009, this figure is expected to reach 1306.5kwspw.
