SEMI produced its preliminary July 2004 book-to-bill ratio for North American semiconductor equipment producers. Bookings of $1.61bn and billings of $1.54bn resulted in a ratio of 1.05. The bookings figure is a 128% increase on July 2003 and the billings are up 96%. The June 2004 book-to-bill has been finalised at 1.07.
Gartner is projecting a 27.4% increase in 2004 world semiconductor revenues with sales reaching $226bn. This compares with an earlier forecast of 24.8% growth.
Worldwide silicon wafer area shipments in Q2 2004 increased 22.4% on 2003. The total area came to 1.045km2 (1619mn inch2).
