The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) for April 2004 puts world IC sales at $16.94bn, a 36.6% increase on April 2003.
Sales into Europe increase 26.4% to $3.22bn. In euros, the European region increase is reduced to 11% growth, with April 2004 sales at EUR2.61bn. Other regions: Americas +30.4% to $3.19bn, Japan +26.9% to $3.65bn and Asia-Pacific +52.0% to $6.89bn.
"Worldwide semiconductor sales in April reached the highest monthly level since July 2000," comments George Scalise, president of the US Semiconductor Industry Association. He adds that "it is likely that growth for 2004 will significantly surpass last fall's forecast of 19%."
