Unaxis appoints new chief executive officer
Thomas Limberger has been appointed chief executive officer of troubled semiconductor equipment maker Unaxis.
Thomas Limberger has been appointed chief executive officer of troubled semiconductor equipment maker Unaxis. He takes over from Dr Harald Eggers, who took on the role of interim chief executive officer of the Swiss firm in January this year.
A member of Unaxis's board of directors since 2004, Limberger has previous experience as a chief executive officer, having headed up General Electric in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 2002.
In this role, he helped boost the company's revenues in the German-speaking region of Europe to US$8.8 billion.
Unaxis announced in May that it was planning to cut 220 jobs after suffering a net loss of US$320 million in 2004.
