MKS Instruments was the dominant supplier in the vacuum gauge and control segment, with a close-to-60% share of this US$166 million sector.
Among the vacuum pump suppliers, BOC Edwards increased its market share and easily retained its number one position. Leybold Vakuum remained the second largest supplier, while Ebara Corporation gained a position to take the third place.
Although BOC Edwards is the largest supplier of dry pumps, Leybold Vakuum is the leader in turbo pumps, while Helix was the dominant supplier of cryo-pumps, with 63% market share.
The vacuum subsystem market is expected to decline by 3.6% in 2005, as a result of lower prices.
