Abacus helps Omron into MEMS future
Omron Components Business Europe has announced that it has appointed Abacus Polar as a distributor for its full range of components, in the UK and Ireland.
The appointment is a strategic move to extend Omron's channel partnerships to take its growing portfolio of innovative technologies to a wider customer base, according to Nigel Blakeway, Chief Operating Officer of Omron Components Business Europe.
He said, “Omron is evolving rapidly. We are moving into new areas such as MEMs sensors for industrial and medical applications, as well as expanding our established switching components to address challenges in Broadband Communications, automotive and other markets. These developments are driving a need for additional distribution partnerships that are complementary to our existing relationships, addressing new customers in new markets.”
Commenting on the choice of Abacus Polar, Blakeway added, “Abacus Polar has a unique approach to demand creation, with a highly technical sales force located close to its customers in regional offices throughout the UK and Ireland.”
Martin Kent, Chief Executive of Abacus Group, added, “Omron's switching and sensing components are highly complementary to our existing ranges, enabling our Field Applications Engineers to partner with customers to address a wider range of design challenges.
Abacus Polar is to offer technical and logistical support across the full range of Omron electromechanical relays and switches, connectors, solid state switches and sensors.
