INEX announced the completion of the upgrade of their 100mm fabrication line to 150mm, plus the acquisition of additional 150mm equipment. This is accompanied by an increase of 400m2 to their existing cleanrooms, providing an overall capacity of 1,000m2.
INEX announced the completion of the upgrade of their 100mm fabrication line to 150mm, plus the acquisition of additional 150mm equipment. This is accompanied by an increase of 400m2 to their existing cleanrooms, providing an overall capacity of 1,000m2. The completed work positions INEX as one of the largest public-sector facilities within the UK dedicated to developing, prototyping and manufacturing emerging MEMS/MST products and thin-film sensor technologies.

The expansion comes at a pivotal time says Ken Snowdon, Director of INEX, "Last year saw a doubling in staff numbers bringing to INEX tremendous additional expertise and capabilities. With the completion of our 150mm line and associated cleanroom expansion, we are very well positioned to grow our core business of working with technology innovators and industry worldwide to develop and commercialise innovative MEMS/MST-reliant products".

The 150mm upgrade project has been partly financed by the UK Department of Trade & Industry under the £90 million Micro- and Nano-Technology Manufacturing Initiative, and EC Objective 2 Programme. INEX was the first facility to be funded under the MNT Initiative, with the specific objective of expanding its national and global reach through competitive facilities and competent staff.
