SEMATECH names director of lithography division
Noted industry technologist Michael Lercel has been named Director of SEMATECH's Lithography Division after serving as the division's associate director, announced Giang Dao, SEMATECH vice president and chief operating officer for Advanced Technology
An IBM assignee, Lercel replaces former director Kevin Kemp, who has returned to his career at Freescale Semiconductor. Prior to joining SEMATECH in 2005, Lercel managed lithography research at IBM's Semiconductor R&D Center in Hopewell Junction, NY. He previously worked as manager of IBM's Advanced Mask Facility in Burlington, VT, while also serving as IBM's technical advisor to SEMATECH Lithography. Lercel received a doctorate in physics from Cornell University and holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also owns nine patents and has delivered numerous presentations and papers at major industry meetings
