New solar $3 million in orders
Amtech Systems, Inc. announced two orders totalling $3 million from the solar cell industry for Tempress brand diffusion furnace systems.
The first order, accounting for $1.8 million of the total, is from a new solar customer in Asia. The second order is for an expansion project of an existing solar customer and results from a letter of intent announced at the time the earlier order was booked. Both customers are producers of photovoltaic cells.
J.S. Whang, the Company's President and CEO, stated, "I am pleased with the company's continued growth during 2006, which has been fuelled, in part, by an increase in orders from the growing solar cell industry. We continue to aggressively pursue this industry and the expanding Asian market. We believe that these solar orders from Asia demonstrate the success of our growth strategy and sales and marketing activities."
