China test and burn-In facility expands into Suzhou
"This is a major step forward in our strategy to establish a significant position in the rapidly growing semiconductor testing and burn-in business in China," said S.W. Yong, Chief Executive Officer of Trio-Tech. "We have been providing semiconductor manufacturers in Asia with quality testing and burn-in services and engineering support for many years at our facilities in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and more recently at the Shanghai, China facility, which we acquired in January 2006. Yong noted that Trio-Tech's Suzhou Industrial Park facility is strategically located in the densely populated and rapidly growing Yangtze River Delta area, and currently provides sales and support services to customers in the region. The expanded testing and manufacturing facility is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2006.
"Our investments in Suzhou complement the continued expansion of Trio-Tech's facility in Shanghai in anticipation of increased testing volume during the second half of 2006," Yong added. "We are working hard to establish a leadership position in China and to take full advantage of the substantial opportunities for long-term growth we see in this market."
