Semiconductor Market Gains Strength

News
Semiconductors Sales in Germany were significantly higher in October than the previous month.

Semiconductors Sales in Germany were significantly higher in October than the previous month. The order bookings were on the increase as well. However, October sales were 3% less than October 2005. September sales were 4% less than 2005 and August was minus 8%.

Collectively, the growth in the first 10 months was approximately 3% less in 2006 as compared to 2005.

For the entire year 2006 ZVEI predicts a minus 2% compared to 2005.
This would require a seasonal increase of suppliers in the 4th quarter.

The ‘Book-to-Bill-Ratio*’, an indicator for the medium term development, showed the previous month was still under 1,00 with 0,98.

May06 0.92
Juni06 1.01
July06 1.01
August06 1.07
September06 0.98 (corrected)
October06 0.98 (temporarily)

The hopes for the Xmas season are, according to ZVEI’s figures, good due to the corrected September values and the relatively good October value.

Therefore Semiconductor market trend has improved.
This especially is due to the gained sales strength of ‘Discrete, Optop and Sensors’.
