Cypress joins Universal Powerline Association
Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has announced its membership in the Universal Powerline Association (UPA). As a member, Cypress will leverage its expertise in connectivity and high-definition video to promote the UPA's digital home standard (DHS) for high-speed networking over power lines, the only power line communication standard currently producing silicon at the industry-leading data-rate of 200 Mbps.
"Cypress is a significant addition to the UPA, as it brings another established semiconductor provider to the table for this competitive power line communication technology," said Steve Rago, principal analyst for Networking and Optical Communications at iSuppli Corporation. "We expect power line home networking to grow at a 72% compound annual growth rate over the next several years."
