Ceelox, Inc and Symwave have announced a strategic partnership to integrate Ceelox's biometric authentication and encryption software solution with Symwave's fingerprint swipe sensor-based hardware. The partnership will enable consumer electronic, PC and PC Peripheral manufacturers to incorporate an easy-to-use, advanced biometric security solution into consumer and enterprise products. Ceelox's biometric security management software solutions, Ceelox ID and Ceelox Vault, will be integrated into Symwave's BioPrint SW6888 fingerprint swipe sensor product offerings. Symwave's BioPrint SW6888 sensor is a fingerprint solution targeting low-power, small form-factor portable and peripheral devices. Ceelox ID enables biometric user authentication prior to allowing the user access to personal computers, files, external drives and networks. Ceelox Vault protects confidential information by enabling users to simultaneously encrypt files and copy or move them to a server, personal computer, or external storage device. Users may select from industry-standard ciphers for file encryption; the encryption algorithms use a key attached to the user, requiring the user’s fingerprint in order to encrypt and decipher the files. Theft or loss of high-profile laptops and mobile devices containing confidential information such as social security numbers, employee information or intellectual property is a rapidly growing problem. The FBI estimates that 97 percent of stolen computers are never recovered. Additionally, The Ponemon Institute reported in 2006 that 81 percent of companies surveyed reported the loss of one or more laptops that contained sensitive information. "Ceelox's biometric security management software, combined with Symwave's high-performance BioPrint sensor family and portfolio of PC-based reference designs, will create biometric solutions for the consumer and enterprise markets. This will enable our customers to deploy biometric solutions for their products," said Sudhakar Avula, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Biometrics Products, at Symwave. "We are pleased to be working with Symwave for biometric hardware solutions," said Don Peterson, vice president of marketing and business development, Ceelox. "The combination of Ceelox software and Symwave hardware provides a security management solution that will protect critical data.”
