Following on the heels of major investments in the purchase of Linweld, and international helium assets from BOC, Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., announced that its parent company, Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC), is in the process of making additional investments in the United States.

Hiroshi Taguchi, Chairman of TNSC, announced, "We are confirming plans to dramatically increase our capacity for atmospheric gas products in the United States." Mr. Taguchi continued, "We are planning to build three air separation plants."

In further comment, Bill Kroll, Chairman and CEO stated, "The new air separation plants will be in southern California, the Midwest and central Texas, and we will continue to grow the infrastructure of our business in all our core markets."

James Samples, President and COO of Matheson Tri-Gas, reported that the expanded bulk gas capacity in the Midwest is in support of Matheson Tri-Gas' growth drive through its Linweld subsidiary, and the new plants in central Texas and southern California will enable our Industrial Gas Group to satisfy the increased demand in those markets.

According to Greg Vasek, President and CEO, of Linweld, "The team work between Matheson Tri-Gas and Linweld has been very successful and the new Midwest capacity is a strong indication of this, and will provide increased supply to the Midwest region and the surrounding states."
