Company awarded Green Building Award by Taiwan government
Taiwan's Interior Minister has recognised Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, CMP Technologies Asia-Pacific Manufacturing and Technical Centre for its long-term commitment to the environment, as demonstrated by the design of this new facility. It incorporates outstanding features and practices that contribute to sustainability and promote a green environment. Rohm and Haas received the award in January 2007 for achieving four out of nine indices assessed in Taiwan's Green Building program: Daily Energy Saving; CO2 Emission Reduction; Water Resource; and Waste Reduction.
"We are honoured to receive this award from Taiwan's Interior Ministry," said Mario Stanghellini, executive vice president, global sales and marketing, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, CMP Technologies. "This award is a testament to our company-wide focus on safety, social responsibility and environmental protection. Environmental stewardship, and programs such as Responsible Care, are core values at Rohm and Haas, and we believe they are fundamental to meeting customer needs in the semiconductor industry."
The principles of sustainable development and product stewardship – efficient use of energy and conservation of natural resources – are integral to Rohm and Haas business culture.
"Our CMP Technologies Asia project engineering teams, along with our team in Taiwan, have done a commendable job in demonstrating Rohm and Hass' high environmental standards and attaining this important green designation," said Cliff Chen, plant manager of CMP Technologies Asia-Pacific Manufacturing and Technical Centre. "Being a responsible corporate citizen and a good community neighbour is important to us. Rohm and Haas advocates maintaining a safe workplace and managing our manufacturing operations with respect for our workforce and the environment. Moving forward, we'll continue to invest in systems and processes at our Taiwan facility that promote the interests of our customers and the communities in which we work."
In addition to the Green Building Award, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials also earned the 2007 Hsinchu Science Park Landscape Award from the Science Park Administration Office. The company received the award on March, 2007 from Lu Hsiu-Lien, vice president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) during the Science Park Landscape Award Day, an annual event for honouring the best landscape achievements within the Science Park community.
