MEMS NIR manufacturing partnership announced
Micralyne Inc has announced plans for a partnership with Polychromix to manufacture MEMS near-infrared (NIR) devices for the Polychromix Phazir product line.
The Phazir is a handheld device that can perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of materials directly at their source. The Phazir combines Digital Transform Spectroscopy (DTS), an technique using MEMS technology to reduce large, stationary analytical laboratory instruments into one handheld, NIR analyzer. Manufactured at Micralyne, these MEMS devices can be mass-produced, resulting in low-cost and robust and reproducible products. In addition, the MEMS engine is an electrostatic device, minimising power usage and maximising battery life.
"As Polychromix's manufacturing partner, we understand the need for high quality MEMS devices to ensure the success of its product, and we are excited to contribute to this innovative technology and look forward to its growth," commented Chris Lumb, President and CEO of Micralyne.Polychromix CEO Brian Mitchell said, "Our core MEMS technology has enabled us to develop products with excellent capabilities in a large and growing industry. Partnering with Micralyne enables us to offer an analysis tool at a reasonable cost without sacrificing quality."
