A $4 million investment by New York State has further prepared Marcy NanoCentre for immediate development by the nanoelectonics industry.
A $4 million investment by New York State has further prepared Marcy NanoCentre for immediate development by the nanoelectonics industry. This state grant will initiate engineering work on infrastructure improvements at the shovel ready site, reducing the time necessary to complete an operational facility.Following last year's global site search, AMD CEO Hector Ruiz called the 300-acre upstate New York greenfield "a world class site."The $4 million in state funding will begin site and infrastructure improvements, including water and sewer upgrades, to reduce the lead time necessary for a developer.Phase II funding of $14.5 million for road and other infrastructure improvements has been proposed."Marcy NanoCenter is ready for development as a result of the significant investment by New York State," said Steven J. DiMeo, president of Mohawk Valley EDGE, the regional economic development agency that is leading the marketing efforts of the site. "Instead of completing off site improvements simultaneous to site development, our strategy is to conclude this work as soon as possible, thereby speeding up the development timeline.""The State's investment in this site is a substantive example of its commitment to make New York a leader in the global high-tech economy. I am very excited about the potential that the Marcy NanoCentre has to offer," added Senator Joseph A.
