Advanced Photonix, Inc. has announced that Shenzhen University, China has entered into a contract to purchase a Picometrix T-Ray 2000 to be used for investigations into the applications of terahertz technology. The purchase order from Shenzhen University is expected to be shipped within 2 months. The T-Ray 2000 is a laboratory instrument that produces, detects and analyses pulsed terahertz waves used for research and development of novel imaging and spectroscopy applications. Application development is the critical first step in the adoption and deployment of terahertz equipment. The T-Ray 2000's patented fiber coupling permits automated or manual scanning of the sensor heads over the objects being scanned. This facilitates the rapid scanning of any size object, improves research productivity, and allows the system to operate in industrial environments"We are excited to continue penetrating the application R&D market by working with top researchers in China," said Richard Kurtz, CEO of API.
