New air separation plant will supply flat-panel-display factory in Korea
Praxair, Inc. has started up a new air separation plant with a capacity of 1,300 tons per day to supply Samsung Electronics' advanced thin-film-transistor, liquid-crystal-display (TFT-LCD) factory in Tangjeong, South Korea.

In addition to nitrogen, oxygen and argon, Praxair supplies helium and hydrogen by pipeline to the facility.Samsung's newest complex is said to be, the world's first seventh-generation TFT-LCD complex, comprised of four production lines."Praxair Korea has enjoyed a cooperative relationship with Samsung for over 15 years and supplies the company's main manufacturing complexes in Gihueng, Hwasung and Tangjeong," said K.H. Lee, president of Praxair Korea. "We believe our supply capability of on-site, bulk and process gases will only strengthen our future together."Praxair also is building a 1,975-tons-per-day air-separation unit in Korea's Hwasung semiconductor complex which will supply ultra-high-purity gases to Samsung Electronics. The plant is scheduled to start up in 2008.
