Aviza Technology have announced that the Company has entered into a joint development program (JDP) with Mosel Vitelic Corporation (MVC). As part of this collaboration, Aviza and MVC will jointly develop advanced atomic layer deposition (ALD) materials for next-generation Flash applications.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aviza will be providing the necessary ALD hardware and innovative process expertise for advanced materials development, while MVC will provide the device design and process integration to develop essential ALD films to meet MVC's technical and manufacturing requirements. The program will utilize Aviza's production-proven Celsior fxP single-wafer ALD system for the development of these films.
"MVC is pleased to be working with Aviza on developing production-worthy ALD films for next-generation Flash devices," said Executive Vice President, Dr. Len Mei at Mosel Vitelic Corporation.
"Aviza has demonstrated its production-proven ALD process and technology capabilities, and we look forward to working with Aviza on advanced films development."
Flash technology research and development of the like that MVC is conducting will be focused on producing advanced Flash devices with higher densities, lower cost and faster programming--all within a smaller device footprint that is required for leading-edge consumer devices. In order to achieve these objectives, early development of ALD materials to produce films with the desired properties for scaling device structures at 58 nm and below is critical for ensuring manufacturability. The advanced films being developed will be screened for their physical properties, electrical properties as well as their ability to be integrated into an advanced Flash manufacturing process flow.
"Aviza is focused on further developing ALD process and technology solutions specifically for the Flash and logic markets, and this JDP is another example of our efforts to meet this objective," said May Su, Vice President and General Manager, ALD and Thermal Business Unit of Aviza Technology, Inc. "Early collaboration is key and we believe that working with MVC will mutually benefit both companies and accelerate the development of advanced ALD films."
