ON Semiconductor Corporation plans to eliminate 110 manufacturing jobs in Phoenix, Arizona, shifting the work to factories in Oregon and Central Europe over the next several months. The company hasn't said how many of those jobs will be coming to ON Semi's Gresham plans.

ON Semiconductor acquired LSI Logic Corporations Gresham chip factory in 2006 for US$105 million. It employs 500 people, making chips that regulate power within electronic devices.

The job cuts in Phoenix will save ON Semi upwards of US$10 million, according to the company. The changes, first reported by The Business Journal of Phoenix, start in early November and continue through June 2008.
