Sun forms 'eco consortium' in India
Sun Microsystems has formed an ‘eco consortium' in India as part of its eco innovation initiative. The group's member companies, including Wipro Infotech, APC-MGE, Advanced Micro Devices and Hitachi Data Systems, will work to address industry's concerns about limited power, space and energy in India as demand grows here for infrastructure utilisation.
The alliance will enable customers to address technology infrastructure issues in the data centre. Members will share best practices and methodologies to help businesses cut costs and ‘green' their operations.
Wipro Infotech's system integration and consulting experience will provide guidance for scaling within the same footprint. APC-MGE will employs its know-how in data centre infrastructure architectures to address power and cooling issues. AMD will offer its energy-efficient computing technologies to help customers cut business energy costs, and Hitachi Data's green storage solutions will enable better use of storage assets to cut power needs and improve IT efficiencies.
