Intel confirms receipt of subpoena
The Californian chip maker Intel Corporation has received a subpoena from New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo requesting documents and information to assist in a possible case of monopolistic agreements or arrangements.
Body Text: Intel said in its annual Form 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that the subpoena from New York State Attorney General requested documents and information to assist with its investigation.
"We intend to co-operate with and respond to these investigations as appropriate and we expect that these matters will be acceptably resolved," An Intel spokesman said.
According to reports, which appeared early January 2008, Mr. Cuomo had issued subpoenas to both Intel and its rival, Advanced Micro Devices in an effort to determine whether Intel coerced customers to exclude AMD from the market for a specific computer processing unit.
"After careful preliminary review, we have determined that questions raised about Intel's potential anticompetitive conduct warrant a full and factual investigation," Mr. Cuomo said in a statement.
