The India China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC) & the Suzhou Municipal People’s Government from China are organising a Seminar to present the “Business Opportunities of Suzhou Service Outsourcing” at Bangalore on April 4, 2008 at the Hotel Leela Palace in Bangalore. The seminar other than strengthening the co-operation and the relations between the two cities of Suzhou and Bangalore will also be a great opportunity to explore business outsourcing opportunities for entrepreneurs from India & China. The city of Suzhou has a history of more than 2,500 years and is known as “Cultural and Historic city”. Today “the paradise city” of Suzhou, is the most important ‘hub city’ in the Yangtze River Delta. Mr. Mohamed Saqib, Secretary General, ICEC Council, said, “Suzhou has been attracting huge investments and the economic output of the city reflects its growing popularity as a major business destination in China. The 2007 GDP of the city touched USD 80 billion, which was a 16% increase over the previous year. And the per-capita GDP is more than USD 12,000, five times more than the Chinese national average.” The IT Industry in Suzhou city is growing rapidly at an annual rate of over 40%. The IT industry turnover was USD 69 billion in 2007, of which software contributed USD 3.5 billion. The software export revenue was USD 1.2 billion. All these have made Suzhou the “National Base of IT Industry” and the “Base of Software Industry”. Ms. Furong Tian, Head, ICEC-China Office, said, “Suzhou offers excellent business opportunities in service outsourcing. 122 of the Fortune 500 companies have invested in 375 companies. Plus the proximity to Shangahai city and the availability of vast pool of human talent makes Suzhou a very attractive investment destination.” The Suzhou city with 18 universities and many software vocational training institutes creates 20,000 jobs to new graduates every year. The availability of excellent infrastructure for service outsourcing like Suzhou Software Park, The International Science Park, Suzhou Science & Technology Town, Intellectual Property Protection Centre, IC Design Centre, etc. makes it a very attractive business destination. Mr. Saqib added, “ICEC Council sees the opportunities Suzhou has to offer and establishing co-operation between Bangalore and Suzhou will be mutually beneficial and lead to a lot of joint development.”
