STC announces new board of directors

News
The new board will support growth and drive adoption of open test standards in the semiconductor industry and Don Edenfeld of Intel re-appointed STC chairperson for third consecutive year
The Semiconductor Test Consortium (STC), a proponent of the development and adoption of value added open test standards that benefit the semiconductor industry, announced the STC has elected its new board of directors. Building on the successes achieved in part to the diverse and committed board of directors last year, the STC members opted to re-elect the board. Steering member Advantest affirmed Paul Roddy of Advantest America, who served as the STC Chairman on behalf of Motorola from 2003 to 2004, as appointee to the board. Don Edenfeld of Intel Corp. has been re-appointed as the chairman, while Hideyuki Aoki of Renesas Technology Corp. and Klaus Luther of Infineon Technologies AG have been re-appointed as vice chairpersons. In addition, the two new elects from last year, Billy Antheunisse of Texas Instruments Inc. and Steve Wigley of LTX Corp., have both been re-elected as STC board members. Bob Helsel has been re-appointed as STC Manager and Treasurer by the Board. “As the board is equally diversified in its technical expertise and geographic makeup, the STC is well positioned to continue to meet new challenges as the test industry matures,” explained Edenfeld. “A perfect example is the consortium’s STIX initiative, which encompasses both open hardware and software specifications for all peripheral areas around the ATE. This initiative has generated a great deal of interest from the industry because it provides value added standards that benefit the entire supply chain.” Luther added, “The substantial progress that the Docking and Interface Working Group has achieved is indicative of what this industry can accomplish when working in a collaborative environment. I expect that this group, as well as the other working groups, will continue to focus on areas to further reduce the nuisance issues and unnecessary R&D costs that do not provide value add to the semiconductor, equipment and outsource service provider companies.” “Mutual and open collaboration is key to the global semiconductor industry and many of the leading probe card and prober companies in the world have made significant contributions to the Probe Card Working Group,” stated Aoki. “They have been able to address some key areas regarding order placement and mechanical holders, which will minimize communication errors, development costs and time to bring probe cards into the production environment.” “We are in a position to create new working groups and specifications as part of the STIX initiative that will lower costs in the semiconductor test industry,” concluded Helsel. “We are open, we are on the move, and we invite those companies still on the periphery to participate. This will be a pivotal year for the STC.”
