Obducat and Canon MJ land first joint NIL deals in Japan

News
The end customers are both major international companies with head offices located in Japan, which cannot be disclosed for competition reasons.
Obducat, a provider of lithography solutions based on Nano Imprint Lithography and Electron Beam Lithography, has received two orders for NIL systems from Canon Marketing Japan (CMJ). One is for the supply of a semi automatic production system to be used in the manufacture of LED components, and the other for a development system within the display area. Both systems will be delivered during the third quarter of 2008. The total value of the orders to the end customers is about SEK 10 million.

The deal also entails agreed prices on expendable items, and sales of these are expected to generate further sales at the end customer in excess of SEK 10 million over the next 3-5 years. Development using the system for displays is expected to result in products for field testing already this year, and high volume manufacturing in 2009.

Patrik Lundström, CEO of Obducat, says: "The fact that we are now cementing our position as leading provider in NIL based LED production, as well as gaining a strong foothold in the area of displays, is very positive. Both applications are within Obducat's focus areas. With regard to the display application, it is the first industrial step towards imprint solutions for larger areas, presenting a significant market potential. These two orders are the first outcome of a year of intensive collaboration between Obducat and Canon MJ. Both deals will now be vital endorsements for further activities in Japan."

Owing to the ongoing issue of convertibles, and the additional significant information in this press release and the press release dated April 4 regarding the order from DSI in Singapore, Obducat will submit an additional prospect to the Financial Supervisory Authority tomorrow at the latest.
