In search of tomorrow’s mobile, 9 to 11 June 2008 at Messe Bremen, Germany
“ACTUATOR” has drawn experts to Bremen for the past twenty years Ideas and results from the field of miniaturised drives and their applications in all areas of technology find their forum at “ACTUATOR” in the Bremen Congress and Exhibition Centre every two years. From Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 June 2008 about 500 professional participants from more than 30 countries will meet in the City of Bremen for the eleventh time to exchange information, make contacts and discuss new developments at the world’s leading specialist conference for actuator technologies. An additional highlight is the “5th International Exhibition on Smart Actuators and Drive Systems” in which 30 exhibitors are expected to take part. “The Call for Papers brought us over 250 abstracts from which we have put together an interesting conference programme with 116 lectures and 141 poster contributions“, says Dr Hubert Borgmann, the Project Manager of “ACTUATOR” at Messe Bremen which is organising the conference. “For the first time in the history of ACTUATOR there will be three parallel sessions.” When selecting the contributions Dr Borgmann was supported by a 24 man international committee of experts from industry and research. The programme has been available on the Internet since the beginning of February. “We were particularly surprised and pleased at the large number of contributions from the field of magnetostrictive actuators.” This is a result of the new special focus programme of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG): a total of 26 posters and lectures are concerned with this topic. “ACTUATOR“ has been the forum for international specialists in the field of micro system technology for twenty years. “Over the course of this time a large number of ideas and results were presented here. Several of them could be taken successfully from the visionary stage to serial production”, says Borgmann. “Among the success stories are a lot of meanwhile established applications of new actuators, especially their wide-spread usage in fuel injection, adaptive shock absorbers, nanopositioning, autofocus adjustment of camera lenses, and other applications of miniaturised drives. One of the current areas of interest is to develop the most suitable drive for the zoom function in mobile phones.” “ACTUATOR“ takes place from Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 June 2008 at the Congress Centre and Hall 4.1 of the Bremen Exhibition Centre. The printed programme will be available as from the beginning of March. For further information, the conference programme, and registration formalities please visit www.actuator.de
