Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering receives Blue Sky Award
Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering, a member of the Busch Group, received the Blue Sky Business Partner Luminary Award as the first award winner in the California service territory for its commitment to purchasing renewable energies.
Pfeiffer Vacuum’s Yreka facility participated in the prestigious Blue Sky Business Partner Program. It awards companies that cover 100% of their electric usage with renewable energies. In honor of the award presentation, an event was held on the premises of Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering.
In a short presentation, Bryan Strait, General Manager of Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering, outlined the company’s 60-year history as well as the plans to expand the warehouse and cleanroom of the facility to support growth in the valve sector. He was then presented with the award by Jill Drinkwater, California Regional Business Manager of Pacific Power – an electric utility company focusing on reliable and sustainable energy delivery that serves customers in Oregon, Washington and California. She emphasized: “Pacific Power is pleased to partner with Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering, and we appreciate their participation in the Pacific Power Blue Sky program.”
In addition to Pfeiffer Vacuum employees, members of Pacific Power’s management team, representatives from Siskiyou Economic Development Council – an organization that focuses on fostering economic growth and development in Siskiyou County, where Yreka is located – the City Manager, and the City Planner of Yreka were also present at the award ceremony. All participants were very proud, creating an atmosphere of recognition and appreciation for this great achievement.
“Pfeiffer Vacuum Valves & Engineering is dedicated to doing environmentally responsible business. We are proud to reduce our carbon footprint, support community-based renewable energy projects, and take major strides with the Busch Group towards our common environmental and sustainability goals. We are honored to receive this award,” said Bryan Strait, General Manager.
By committing to the purchase of renewable energy, the companies participating in the program have supported the generation of 13.9 million megawatt-hours of renewable energy over the past 23 years. This has resulted in a total reduction in carbon emissions of 4.7 million tons. Pfeiffer Vacuum has reduced its Scope 2 emissions – the indirect emissions caused by the purchase of energy – in North America by 100%, with the Yreka site being responsible for 54% of this reduction due to its switch to 100% green electricity.
Being honored with this award is a great achievement, and it underscores the commitment of the entire Busch Group to a sustainable future.
