SGL Group awarded Supplier of the Year by Siltronic

SGL Group "“ The Carbon Company "“ was named "Supplier of the Year 2015 / Excellent Delivery Performance and Business Relationship" by Siltronic AG, a global leader in the market for hyperpure silicon wafers, as one of the company's best suppliers.

Johannes Moritz, Head of Purchasing of Siltronic AG: "SGL Group is leading and worldwide operating in the graphite industry and is a very important partner for us in the context of our crystal growing and epitaxy processes. We appreciate SGL Group's high commitment in this very competitive environment, to keep their cost and innovation leadership. Together we benefit from this long-term partnership and the continuous development of SGL with regards to the topics yield, quality, and price. We are glad to honor this commitment with our award."

Burkhard Straube, Head of business unit Graphite Materials & System (GMS) of SGL Group, says, "Of course we are very delighted about winning this award and the thereby expressed trust in our company. Nevertheless it is also motivation for further innovations and enhancements in the context of the long-time partnership with Siltronic and Wacker."

For this award, given once a year, Siltronic evaluates key suppliers in the categories of customer satisfaction, quality, technology, product availability, and service. Additional factors such as complexity of products, and strategic relevance for Siltronic also go into the evaluation.

Among other things, SGL Group supplies Siltronic AG with heaters and crucibles of high-purity isostatic graphite and carbon fibre-reinforced carbon, as well as soft felt for insulation. They are used in systems for the manufacture of silicon wafers for semiconductor production. The high-temperature process of manufacturing high-purity monocrystalline silicon places tough requirements on system components. These include temperature and corrosion resistance as well as a high degree of material purity and long service life. As a result, the so-called "hot zone" for growing the silicon crystals consists almost entirely of graphite components. As supplier, SGL Group covers the entire bandwidth of system components.

As one of multiple drivers of the megatrends digitalization and mobility, components for the production of semiconductors for the telecommunications and automobile industries are an important part of the future direction of SGL Group.
