Intel awards ZEISS & KLA as top quality suppliers

News

The strategic business unit Semiconductor Metrology Systems (SMS) of ZEISS has been recognised for its significant contributions in providing Intel with photomask qualification, repair, metrology and tuning equipment.

Intel deemed this essential to its success.

"Congratulations to ZEISS on their PQS award," says Janice Golda, Director of Intel's Patterning Capital Equipment Development group. "SMS has demonstrated their commitment to leading edge repair and metrology capabilities in alignment with Intel's photomask manufacturing roadmap. Their commitment to technological innovation, equipment performance, and quality has helped to enable the continuing pursuit of Moore's Law and thus makes ZEISS a valued supplier for Intel. We look forward to continued success in the future."

The PQS award is part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) program that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score 80 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology, environmental, social and governance goals. Suppliers must also achieve 80 percent or greater on a challenging improvement plan and demonstrate solid quality and business systems.

"We at ZEISS are very proud to receive the Intel PQS Award for 2012. While many of our innovative products for mask metrology and repair have been developed together with Intel, this Award also reflects our product and company quality and reliability. I would like to thank the whole team of SMS for this great achievement," comments Oliver Kienzle, managing director of the strategic business unit SMS.

KLA Tencor was also a recipient of the coveted award.

The company was recognised for its significant contributions in providing Intel with process control capital equipment and services.

"KLA-Tencor is honoured to receive Intel's Preferred Quality Supplier award for a second consecutive year - a true testament to our employees' expertise and world class inspection and metrology equipment and services," says Mike Kirk , executive vice president of Customer Group and Operations for KLA-Tencor.

"Sharing a common vision and strong relationship, we have continued to collaborate with Intel to drive leading-edge product innovation and deliver superior customer service that brings added value to Intel's key initiatives," he adds.

"KLA-Tencor has continued to demonstrate PQS level performance as seen through improvements in technology roadmap alignment, quality, velocity and sustaining operational support. We appreciate KLA-Tencor's commitment to driving continuous improvement in the spirit of the Intel SCQI program," comments Janice Golda , Director, Patterning Capital Equipment Development.

A celebration to honour PQS award winners was held in San Jose.

A full list of award recipients is available on Intel's website.
