SMIC Appoints Dr. Atsushi Hori as General Manager of SMIC Japan

China's SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, has expanded its global presence by announcing Dr. Atsushi Hori as General Manager of SMIC Japan Corporation. 

Dr. Hori received his degree in semiconductor device physics from the University of Tokyo and has more than twenty years of experience in the semiconductor industry in both business and technology. Dr Hori will be responsible for promoting SMIC's process capabilities and manufacturing services to this strategically important region. The SMIC Japan office will be relocated to Shinagawa in the near future.

"Japan has a significant history and a prosperous future in the semiconductor industry.  We anticipate that with the appointment of Dr. Atsushi Hori, SMIC will be able to assist Japanese semiconductor manufacturers into a win-win business model," said Mike Rekuc, SVP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing of SMIC.
